Custom Craftsman Style Trading Card Framing

Woodshop Custom is Different.

Walnut is not just walnut. Since the frame is handcrafted for you, you can decide on the amount of character the wood has - grain variations, color changes, and how many knots. Small changes have big impacts with this frame.

Every inch of our frames echoes true craftsmanship. From hand-selected wood and backgrounds to meticulous frame construction, and even our hand-painted logo, each element is a testament to the craftsman spirit.

An All-Around Stunner

The frame edges display a combination of end grain, long grain, splines and pins. We also use a solid wood spacer between the glass and background for increased continuity. Put this all together and it leaves no bad angle to view our frames.

ArtGlass AR 99

Beyond amplifying your card's visibility with its anti-reflective properties, our frames provide unparalleled protection. With Artglass AR 99, 99% of harmful UV light is blocked, preserving the card's vibrancy and longevity for generations.

Endless Personalization Opportunities

We go back to traditional ways and use cloth for the background, something modern matting tries to replicate but cannot. Traditional cloth backgrounds bring more depth, boldness and increase the overall character. We use classic fabrics like duckcloth, crushed velvet, double gauze and burlap, but also branch out to more unique fabrics such as furs, meshes, metallics and more. Thousands of combinations for a truly one of a kind display. Small frames are perfect for having fun with the background.

Find a background on your own, or have us assist in mocking up the perfect background and frame combination. We want this to be one of your favorite things and we will put in the work to make sure that happens.

Your Card Sits Front and Center

Your slabbed or raw card sits elevated above the background, bringing it to the center of attention. Cards easily attach to background with a strong double-sided tape while your slab is protected by an acrylic film. Fits 35pt PSA, SGC, Becket slabs and raw holder. From modern cards to t206 to mini cards, sports heroes to Pokemon to Yu-Gi-Oh trading cards, all fit flawlessly in our frames. Easily remove and replace with other cards as often as you like.

Everything you need to professionally and easily mount and finish your frame is included, as well as How-to Videos to help guide you through the process.

Traditional Finishing Techniques

To get that nice, smooth, satin finish, we hand rub our oil/poly mix - oil to pop the wood and poly for long-lasting protection. When it comes to changing the color of wood, we use old-school ways.

We fume White Oak in an ammonia chemical which darkens the wood in the span of a week. It is a finish used to pop the “rays” in Quartersawn White Oak that no modern stain can achieve.

For more chemistry fun, to get deep, dark blacks, we ebonize the wood. It is another chemical reaction that happens in the wood that no stain can match.

We spend the extra time with finishing because these are the ways to let the wood’s natural beauty out and not hide it behind distracting gloss. Our finishes have a satin luster that allows the wood to radiate.

Traditional

Backgrounds

and Beyond

Into the blackest of voids, our Blackest Black background makes your card appear like it is floating in a void. All thanks to a Vanta Black-like paint that we use on the background and spacer to give it that void look.

You can also send items in to use as backgrounds like this Homer Hanky.

We Are Here for You

We put a lot of pride into making our frames and want you to have a frame to be proud of. If you cannot narrow down your background choice or want to see some options, we do complimentary mock-ups with a replica of your card that we can send to you or schedule a webcam visit. Figure out as much as you can and let us know on the checkout form how we can assist. We make it easy to be one of a kind.

We handmake every component in our frames so that means every component is customizable, from spline and pin color, to how many knots, to the colors of our logo.
